Accounting Specialist

Wichita, KS

Syndeo has a direct hire opening for an Accounting Specialist to support a local commercial construction management group, architect, and luxury home builder.  This person will be responsible for timely and accurate development and maintenance of financial data pertaining to the individual entities and its projects, consultants, and vendors, through timely entry and processing of accounts payables and receivables, account reconciliations, and journal entries. 

This position requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented, accounting professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A self-starter with a clear desire to make work fun and enjoyable within a collaborative, team-oriented family environment.  

  Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with tracking and recording revenue and expenditures in accordance with GAAP
  • Works with staff establishing successful business relationships while ensuring accurate and consistent processing of AP invoices, credit card transactions, and expense reports
  • Provides general ledger and project/phase coding; verifies coding of invoices prior to entry into company software
  • Assists management with reviewing trade invoices for accuracy of amount and terms
  • Works to maintain accuracy of project records; assists with reviews of project labor, expense charges, and revenue forecasting
  • Provide project profitability and progress reports to leadership; assist with ad hoc A/P, project, or similar financial reporting as needed
  • Responsible for A/P data validation, to include vendor record maintenance, e.g., updated contacts, updated addresses, default coding and W9 / 1099 status
  • Responds to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Collaboration to resolve challenges and improve processes/procedures when necessary
  • 3-5 years relevant professional accounting experience; project accounting highly preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as with various disciplines; committed to being an effective, contributing team player.
  • Willingness to embrace and constantly strive for greater efficiencies through process and/or technology improvements

Education/Experience: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation with a strong work ethic, personally driven to meet project and performance goals and deadlines

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
