Heat Treat Quality Assurance Manager Location: Wichita, Kansas Direct Hire Opportunity Aerospace / Heat Treating Industry
Are you a seasoned Quality Assurance leader with a strong background in Heat Treat operations, Nadcap, and AS9100 compliance?
Our client—a well-established, industry-respected aerospace manufacturing and heat treatment company—is seeking a Heat Treat Quality Assurance Manager to join their team and help ensure the highest standards of quality and compliance in their operations.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President of Heat Treat, and ultimately to the Chief Quality/Compliance Officer, you’ll lead and manage all aspects of quality assurance related to Heat Treat operations. Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary liaison with customers regarding complaints and nonconformances
- Investigate and implement corrective actions for customer complaints
- Maintain and update quality records, procedures, and specifications
- Ensure calibration of all instruments, gauges, and equipment used in quality processes
- Support quality planning and corrective action activities
- Lead internal audits, host customer and registrar audits (including Nadcap and OEMs)
- Oversee procurement and inspection of Controlled Materials & Services
- Qualify and audit suppliers; manage purchase orders related to quality
- Manage and support Inspection, Laboratory, and Pyrometry teams
- Promote and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical and metallurgical support internally and externally
- Occasional travel (e.g., Nadcap meetings, customer visits, etc..)
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Heat Treating, including both Aluminum and Steel (e.g., solution aging, vacuum furnaces, induction hardening, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience with Nadcap Heat Treat Audits
- 5+ years in Quality Management Systems, including AS9100/AC7004
- 3+ years successfully managing QA teams (3-5 team members)
- Aerospace industry experience (7+ years preferred)
- Strong computer skills and comfort with testing equipment
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
- Driver’s license and insurable driving record required
- Ability to work under ITAR Requirements
Education
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related field
- Alternatives:
- 10 years of progressive experience in Heat Treat QA Management in lieu of degree
- Bachelor’s in Business with 5 years of successful Heat Treat QA Management experience
Schedule
- 7 am-4 pm Mon-Fri; salaried managers typically work 45+ hours per week as needed
